Overcoming Fear Day 3
WEEK 1 DEVOTIONAL
GOD GIVES US THE KINGDOM
Fear not, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.
Luke 12:32
PRAYER:
This verse says, don’t fear because You desire to give me the kingdom. What does that mean? Different verses are going through my head: “righteousness, peace, joy in the Holy Spirit is the kingdom. We are joint heirs with Jesus. Your kingdom come; Your will be done. The kingdom of God is upon you.” You spoke about the kingdom many times. It seems that this kingdom is here, and it is not here yet. When You brought the kingdom, the sick were healed, the dead were raised, the demons were cast out. It’s Your pleasure to give me the kingdom. You called the disciples little flock before You said this, so it is obvious that they didn’t need to do anything to be great enough to get the kingdom. You, Papa God, just desire to give me the kingdom. I don’t have to do something special to earn it; I just need to be a sheep. Papa, I’m not walking in Your kingdom the way I want to be. I’m walking in the kingdom of the world. I receive the kingdom from You. Teach me what that means. Forgive me for every time that I’ve rejected this gift from You. Help me to receive Your kingdom. Help me to live in Your kingdom. Teach me my identity as one who is an heir, as one who is your beloved child, as one who has authority and dominion. Teach me how to walk in that authority.
SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT:
I am a behavior therapist. I help children with autism. When I’m working with a child, I do not yell or scream. I don’t whine or groan in exasperation. I know my authority. I know that what I’m saying is for the best of the child. I keep going regardless of how the child responds. If the child falls to the floor in a tantrum or throws something across the room or hits and kicks and bites me, I still remain calm. I will block the attacks, but I don’t change my demeanor. I don’t change my tone of voice. I repeat the same request again. I don’t get in distress if it doesn’t look like it’s working. I don’t change my goal or my plans. I don’t change strategies. I just keep going. I have full confidence that what I am doing will work.
PRAYER:
Papa, I’m not that way in your kingdom. I don’t walk with that kind of confidence, with that kind of authority. Disciple me.
Papa, is there anything you want to say to me about your kingdom or my role in it?
